Results of the FOSSCode 2006

The following Six projects were selected after much consideration.

2. Synchronization module for Sahana by JP Fonseka.Mentor : Raveendra De Silva
3. TCPMon for Axis2C by Samith Jayamal. Mentor : Sahan Gamage
4. LDAP Key Store for WSS4J by Milinda Pathirage. Mentor : Davanum Srinivas
5. Perl Axis2C Extension by Chanaka Wijesena. Mentor : Nadika Jayawardena
6. Hermes by Mahangu Weerasinghe Mentor : Anuradha Rathnaweera.

and you HAVE to put your thinking caps on, its time to crunch some code!

2 June :Submission of proposals
5 June :Selection and notification
4 July :Intermediate evaluation by mentor
4 August :Project Completion
11 August :Final evaluation (Mentor reports)

Award ceremony at FOSSSL

FOSSCode 2006, is a program that encourages students to work on free and open source software projects. Modeled on the popular Google Summer of Code program, computer science students of universities and schools island wide will be given the opportunity to be innovative and also earn some money for their efforts. Our objective is to encourage students to get into the wonderful world of “Free and Open Source Software” also known as FOSS, and realize the value and benefits that FOSS can bring to developers as well as the country.

Who said there’s no money in Open Source?

We are offering up to 6 students with the best proposals, Rs. 50,000 each if they succeed in completing their projects in the given time.
